Dynamic Discovery Days FAQ

How is this different than music therapy?

Music therapy is when we use music as the medium to work on different areas of need. We might be working on communication and speech, social interactions and emotional processing, or motor skills - through the music experiences.

Dynamic Discovery Days is music recreation and music learning. Our team consists of music therapists, and we bring experience to the table of being able to adapt learning styles and make it accessible to all! We might be working on music learning - but it still centers around this idea that we all CAN and we want to make the process enjoyable!

What does the tuition include?

Tuition includes instruction by licensed music therapists and a daily snack. Participants will be required to bring their own lunches.

Is lunch provided?

No, lunch will not be provided. Participants need to bring their own lunches. We will provide snacks and water each day. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

Does the participant need to have an instrument?

No, the participant does not need to bring instruments. We will provide instruments for their use throughout the camp.

What does the participant need to bring?

Participants will need to bring a lunch each day. Snacks will be provided, but if participants have dietary restrictions, we will need to be notified to meet those needs. Participants are also encouraged to bring a water bottle. There is filtered water available in a water dispenser where they can refill their water bottles.

What does "inclusive" mean?

An inclusive event means that it is open to those that have disabilities as well as those who do not.

Can my disabled child participate?

YES! This program is designed to be inclusive and to meet a variety of support needs.

Is the space wheelchair accessible?

The building and our suite within the building are wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms have an accessible stall.

Will support needs be met?

All instruction will be adapted to the support needs of each individual. If needed or desired, a participant can have a loved one attend to be a 1:1 support throughout the program.

Does the participant need to be potty trained?

No, we do not require participants to be able to toilet independently. However, we are not able to meet their toileting needs and someone would need to be nearby to meet those needs when they arise.

There is a bathroom in our building, but not within our office suite. For those that are potty trained, they will be accompanied by a staff member to the bathroom along with other children or other staff. One child will never be left alone with one adult.

Is previous music experience required?

No prior music experience is required or needed! Participants will get the opportunity to try out a variety of instruments: piano, ukulele, percussion, and voice!

How are the participants supervised?

Staff will always be present. Children are supervised from time of drop off to time of pick up. Registration will cap at 15 participants, and there will be a 1:5 ratio of staff to participants.

Do you run background checks on staff?

The staff consists of board certified music therapists that are licensed in the state of Nevada. Background checks are required for Nevada licensure and each of our staff has met these requirements.

Can someone other than me pick up the participant?

You may authorize others to pick up the participant. This authorization must be done in writing when they are dropped off. We will not release participants to anyone that is not on the authorization list.

What will the performance look like?

Throughout the week, participants will learn one song each for the piano, ukulele, and voice. Additionally they will learn one additional song on all of those instruments, and will get to choose which instrument they want to perform for that song. The performance will be of everyone performing those 4 songs. Anyone can come watch, but know that space is limited and we may not have seats available for everyone. Seating will be prioritized for those that have physical support needs.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full payment will be required by July 1, 2025. If you have paid and then cancel prior to July 1, 2025, your registration will be fully reimbursed. No refunds will be offered for cancellations after July 1, 2025, unless there are medical reasons. For cancellations after July 1, 2025 due to medical reasons, we will negotiate partial or full refund on a case by case basis.
